A NEW DAY — A NEW LIFE
Another year has come and gone. The old has once more passed on to the
new. The past twelve months have had
its share of ups and downs, leaving our church still intact and optimistic
about the future. Let us all look at the
New Year as a time of (not remembrance) but a new beginning.
Every year most of us make New Year
resolutions, most of them not lasting very long. However, the Bible calls for each of us to walk
in newness of life (Romans 6:4). This
means more than just one day a year or once a week but every day of our lives
should be dedicated to our walk with Christ.
Therefore we need to pray more, study the scripture more and love the
Lord more every day more than we did the day before.
Each day of this year will bring its
own trials, as well as victories. How
can we possibly live out the Christian faith without the guidance of the Holy
Spirit? Let us therefore follow Paul’s
example and die daily (1 Cor. 15:31).
With the help of the Spirit, we can put away those besetting sins and
desires which cause a distance between us and our God.
We as a church are called to be in a
constant state of revival. Our goal
should be to be ready at any time to answer the call of God, physically and
spiritually; whenever and to whatever He calls us. Remember that each day belongs to Him, and
that we should start each day by dying to self, and becoming the new creature
(2 Cor. 5:17) that He intends for us to be.
I hope that everyone has a wonderful New Year. Amen.
