A NEW NAME

                       Revelation 2:17

The way people usually try to make it big here on planet earth involves a lot of work.  Most of the ones that I know personally, including myself, have to put out a lot of work for a little money. I know that it is possible to make a little bit go a long way, but it is very hard to make a name for yourself in that way.  Most people associate having a big name with a new car and a large bank account.

Have you ever heard of someone trying to make a name for themselves?  I business, have often seen people set out to be some great thing or another; like maybe to own a successful or any number of worldly ambitions.  Oftentimes these personal goals are self-centered, but other times a person can strive for a more self-less way to live their lives.  We would like to spend a few minutes and take look at what type of a name we want to make for ourselves,

Conversely, The Bible tells us a completely different standard for measuring our success.  Jesus Himself said that we shouldn’t build up treasures on earth, but that we should rather be building our treasure in heaven (Matt 6:19-20).  We can do this only by living the life that the Lord has ordained each of us to live.  This we can only do with the guidance of the spirit with which each born-again believer is sealed with.  With this confidence we have the strength to testify and witness of our salvation to a lost and dying world.  This is the reason that we are in this world when, as Paul said, it would be much better to go and be with the Lord Jesus (Phil 1:23).

We know that the only way to the Father is thru the Son Jesus Christ.  We must come to the Lord by the way of the blood-stained cross of Calvary.  This is absolutely the moment in time that our redemption to God was made possible.  One perfect sacrifice made by the perfect son of God. One sacrifice made possible by a lowly birth in a manger and a sin-free life for thirty-three years we have the promise of eternal security.  We should mourn His death, definitely.  However, we should likewise celebrate His birth, without which the cross would never have been.

Thank you Jesus and have a happy birthday!!!
